Help make food history in California! Please volunteer!
Dear Organic Eaters,
California
could make history in November by becoming the first state to require
mandatory labeling of genetically engineered food ingredients. But only
if Prop 37, the California Right to Know Genetically Engineered
Food Act, passes.
That's why we're reaching out to you. Will you volunteer
today to approach the manager or owner of the retail store, CSA, food
co-op, restaurant or farmer's market where you regularly buy your
organic food and ask them to join the more than 100 retail stores that
have already publicly endorsed Prop 37? We need thousands of volunteers
to ask their local health food stores to endorse Prop 37, provide
educational materials for their consumers, and donate to the California
Right to Know campaign.
If you sign up here to volunteer, we will
contact you and supply you with a script, endorsement posters, educational flyers and instructions for collecting donations.
We're
asking our members in all 50 states to do this - but we're making a
special appeal to those of you on the front lines in California, where
we need the strongest show of support.
The
California campaign and our other allies have raised almost $4 million
dollars so far, but Monsanto, the Grocery Manufacturers, and the Farm
Bureau will spend $20-40 million to try to defeat Prop 37.
Almost
50 other countries have mandatory GMO
labeling laws. But here in the US - where our politicians are beholden
to corporate lobbyists - we don't have the right to know what's in our
food.
We can change that, thanks to this citizens' ballot initiative. But we need your help. Please volunteer today! Thank you!
