On Friday, November 6, 2009, I spoke with Congressman Dennis Kucinich's staff about the bills he sponsored: HR BILLS 6635, 6636, 6637, requiring labeling of GM food ingredients, long term testing of all GM foods, drugs, and chemicals before inoculation to livestock or their feed, open field experiments, and to protect the farmers from big AG regarding lawsuits and property seizure under financial duress.
Where are they? They are (I know you'll be shocked, so you might want to sit down) stuck in Committee. The Subcommittee on Specialty Crops, Rural Development and Foreign Agriculture. Since the Summer of 2008. Why? Can you say "Healthcare Taffy-Pull," boys and girls? I was informed that we can breathe some life back into these by pushing our representatives to support these bills, so let's get with it!
